Safe Sport Webinar from USA Gynmastics

As part of our outreach for Child Abuse Prevention Month, the USA Gymnastics Safe Sport Department recently conducted a webinar on “How to Talk About Child Sexual Abuse Prevention,” which is available in the webinar archive.  I have included a link to the webinar because it provides some of the guidance you and your professional members have requested for addressing safe sport issues.   I also encourage you to share with the professional members in your states and regions. And, as always, please contact Toby Stark, our director of safe sport, if you have any questions.  We appreciate your time and dedication to our athlete’s safety and well-being.

Statement from USA Gymnastics State, Regional and National Chairs

USA Gymnastics holds the highest standard of care for athletes and members.

We have the desire to rebuild and to move forward.

We have the opportunity right now, in the history of USA Gymnastics, in our sport, and in our country, to lead, saying, we are going to get it right.  By doing that, we will honor our athletes who have been impacted and we will honor all USA Gymnastics members and participants, including, but not limited to, athletes, coaches, parents, judges, and volunteers.

We will not be the organization that shuts the doors, changes the name, and puts a new face on the same institution.

At the end of the day, we have an opportunity to improve USA Gymnastics.  We have an obligation to meet the challenge that has been set before us and to become a better organization.  It is about sharing positive gymnastics stories and getting it right.

We will get it right.

Eighty-Eight Women’s Program USA Gymnastics National, Regional, and State leaders stood today to wholeheartedly support USA Gymnastics.

Safe Sport Program

USA Gymnastics is committed to fostering a fun, healthy and safe environment for all members. Beginning in 2012, USA Gymnastics has provided awareness, prevention and reporting information regarding sexual misconduct to professional members, Member Clubs, and athlete members and their families through the Clubs Care and We Care Campaigns. We are pleased to introduce the USA Gymnastics Safe Sport program, which includes information and guidance on six forms of abuse that occur throughout our society and youth sport. USA Gymnastics Safe Sport program, which is replacing the Clubs Care and We Care Campaigns, provides policies, education, a reporting structure, and tools intended to assist our Members Clubs, professional members, athlete parents and athletes as we work together to promote a safe environment.
